A couple of weeks ago I went to Ikea, my favorite place on earth, to buy a hinge for the Ikea kitchen cabinets we bought. When I got to the correct department, I had to wait, of course, but when I was finally waited upon, I had a really disturbing experience. The sales person was rude and condescending and I was shocked. All I wanted was a hinge, and we had already bought hundreds of dollars worth of Ikea cabinets. This was the treatment a loyal customer receives?!
This lady really ruined my night. My feelings were hurt and she embarrassed me. So, I went to customer service and wrote feedback on a comment card. I wasn’t sure if this would make any impact at all, if doing such a thing even mattered, but I had to get it out of my system. The way this lady had treated me was ridiculous.
A week later, I woke up to the sound of a phone call, but since I didn’t recognize the number, I didn’t answer. Within a couple of hours I received four calls from Ikea wanting to talk to me about my experience. They were incredibly apologetic and appreciative of my feedback. They offered me a gift card which I could pick up at the store.
So, today I went to Ikea to pick up the gift card and I was surprised to see that I had gotten a substaintial amount of credit. All was forgiven! I was able to buy many things that I needed, like frames, candles, a desk and chair, and a gift for someone. Yay!
I am really impressed with Ikea. They showed me that they valued me as a customer. Ikea is good people.

Going to Ikea to fill out a complaint card…
Ok, just kidding!
Wow! I’m even more impressed with Ikea now. We have one about a mile down the road from our place, and I so like going there and browsing.
